Engagement

light and dark

GET THE JOB DONE.

Echauffement.

GET THE JOB DONE.

Passer la moitié du temps m’a paru long. Je crains la suite. Mon allure varie beaucoup. Mou, fort, mou, fort. Je cherche mon cap.

GET THE JOB DONE.

Enfin.

GET THE JOB DONE.

GET THE JOB DONE.

GET THE JOB DONE.

For 3 weeks I have been training on a training plan by Julian Nagi that I have already mentioned. (Here and there for example). It’s hard. I handle physically but it is mentally tough.
This morning, I was spontaneously awakened fairly early, around 4:40. As sleep did not return, I stuck to my home-trainer session scheduled today: a 30-minute time trial. I feer this workout, it’s more a stomach test to me. I know how much I will suffer but I must go because it is not the motivation that will press the pedals, it is the discipline.

So here I am on the turbo, maximum fan power, I will face my fears. I know what I’m afraid of: I’m afraid of giving up, I’m afraid of disappointing, I’m afraid of going out worse than other times.

GET THE JOB DONE.

Warming up. Getting Started. First negative thoughts. Relax. Acceleration resumes. Some harder intervals. My pedal stroke is square. I’m already wavering. I am already mounting a backup scenario: « for some this warm-up could be an exercise! And yes it is in the fashion to be time efficient, blah blah blah ».

GET THE JOB DONE.

I’m there. 235 watts. I beg your pardon Julian, I still have figures in mind, but I gradually detach myself, I promise you. I settle in the rhythm. I sweat. I breathe heavily.

GET THE JOB DONE.

Spending half the time seemed long. I fear the rest. My pace varies a lot. Soft, strong, soft, strong. I’m looking for my heading.

GET THE JOB DONE.

My heart rate drifts to the peaks, I drift. I’m in the black zone. That’s it. Finally.

GET THE JOB DONE.

My cortex gradually dies out. I just have enough influx to get repetitive mantras.

GET THE JOB DONE.

I touch the goal. I know I’ll survive this w/o. The joy returns. I handle it better, stronger. I smile.
